Adages and Proverbs

WALT:  To say the differences and explain what adages and proverbs are.

In Writing we had to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on adages and proverbs.  I worked with my friend Kate.  We did it on a Google Drawing.  It was easy to do and I got it done quickly.  Here it is.

What do you know about adages and proverbs?

Cool Commenting

WALT: Do a Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful comment on someones blog and post it to your blog.

In Distance Learning we had to comment on someones blog post and then post that comment to your blog.  I liked this activity and it was easy to do.  I couldn't decide who to comment on and Mr Gray said that we had to comment on someone that we normally wouldn't comment on.  In the end I did a random guess and I ended up with Isaac.  Here is the comment.

Kia Ora Isaac! This is Lily-Rose. I like your post about currency because I learnt that the dollar bill was first introduced in 1967. This reminds me when I did the same activity as you have done. Maybe next time you could make the DLO easier to see and write more in your post. Bye!

If you are in Room 1, who would you comment on?

Helpful Harold

 WALT: Write a letter.

Today in distance learning for writing we had to write a letter to Harold.  (The giraffe that visits schools and teaches them about being healthy.)  You had to tell him about what you have been doing in lock down. I wrote it in Google Docs.  It was an easy activity to do and I finished it quickly.  It was a fun activity to do as well.  I really like it when Harold visits our school.  Here is the letter that I wrote.

Dear Harold,

My name is Lily-Rose and I am a Year 6 student at New Brighton Catholic School.  We are answering your letter as part of our learning.  I have been doing a lot of school work and I have been going outside on the trampoline for at least an hour a day.  I have also been cleaning out my room too.  I put all my china ornaments on one shelf and all my porcelain dolls on the other shelf.  I have also been doing some painting and baking.  I LOVE baking chocolate chip cookies and brownies.  We have been going for bike rides along the river every second day.  Thank you for your letter.

Sincerely,

Lily-Rose.

What would you have written if you did the activity?

My Recount!

WALT: To write a recount about a event that happened in the holidays.

In Writing we had to write a recount about something that happened in the holidays.  It was a really fun activity because we got to write about whatever we want that happened in the holidays.  I wrote about when I had a sleepover with Kate.  It was easy to do because it was only a few days ago.  Here is my writing.

Have you ever had a sleepover before?  If you have, who with?

Please comment! {Kind ones please!}

SLEEPOVER WITH KATE!

Have you ever had a sleepover before? I have!  My Friend Kate and I had a sleepover at my house during the holidays. It started early and ended late.

When Kate got to my house we went for a walk up the hill with my mum and my little brother.  We got to the top and my mum took a photo of the view while Kate and I did the best part of going up the hill . . .   running down!  We ran down screaming at the top of our lungs and we dodged the sheep poo that was everywhere.  We were exhausted when we got to the bottom.

When we got home Kate and I played a made up game called Endangered Species Vets.  We would get my soft toys and we would pretend that they were seriously injured.  They would stay with us until they were better.  Our ‘house’ was a weather beaten hut that my dad made for me and my brother.  My favourite patient was when Percy the owl was traumatised from falling out of a tree.

Kate had to leave at 2.30 to go to ballet exams and when she got back  my dad took us to the movies to see The War With Grandpa.  {GREAT MOVIE].  We got KFC on the way home, it was Kate’s first time having it.  We had a shower and talked in bed when we  got home.  In the morning we had pancakes for breakfast, and we watched Enola Holmes on Netflix.  When Kate's Mum picked her up we wrestled on the trampoline and Kate’s jeans split.  It was SOOOOOOOOO fun.

It was the best sleepover that I have ever had at my house!!   I hope that she can come again.

Staircase to heaven.

WALT: To paint a picture with our writing.

In Writing we had to write a piece of writing about a picture that was on the board.  The picture was of a staircase to Heaven.  I wrote my piece of writing in my book, then I copied it onto google docs.  It was really fun to do the writing because I had a lot of ideas!  I took a photo of my writing on google docs. Here it is!

What is a way to paint a picture with words?
