Refugee camp

 WALT: To experience the life of a refugee.

On Monday the Senior Syndicate walked to the Red Zone and pretended to be refugees.  One the way to the our spot, Mr Gray would blow his whistle and we would have to run for cover, pretending that guards were after us.  Once we got to the spot, we spilt into our house groups.  My house, (Euphrasie or Blue) were making shelters with only three tarps and some twine.  Then we moved on to getting blindfolded and getting guided by a partner through a mine field of "bombs" (cones).  Then we had to answer questions that were in Mandarin to cross the "border".  Finally we got to get a spoonful of rice into our hands and had to eat it straight from our hands.  Then we walked back to school.  

It was a fun experience, and it reminded me how some people live.

SVA Rubbish pick up

 WALT: Care for our environment.

Today we the Years 5's and 6's worked our ways to Thompson Park picking up rubbish along the way.  The Year 6's of Room 3 and 2 went a different route while the year 5's went another way.  We filled up so many bags of rubbish, filled with beer bottles, cigarettes and the random wallet.

It made me sad to see all that rubbish everywhere.  So many people have thrown beer bottles and all sorts of things in the bushes where no one would look.  Luckily we were there to  clean it up.

When we got  to Thompson Park I played in the bowl.  People had brought their scooters so they could scooter in the bowl.  I LOVED going to Thompson Park.  I hope we can go again.

The Samoan Flag

WALT: To draw the Samoan Flag and post it to our blog.
Today for Samoan Language Week we had to draw the Samoan Flag.  I drew the flag myself and took a photo of it.  I liked drawing it because it meant I got to use my new felt pens.  It was difficult though trying to draw the stars on the flag.    Do you have a Samoan culture in your family?  If you do who has the Samoan culture?

Flipping your lid

Flipping your lid is easy to do, even though you don't want to do it.  Your brain is split into two operations. The reptile brain and the upstairs part. when you get angry try to notice the signs that you are about to flip your lid. You start to breathe heavily and your hands and teeth are clenched. Try and do something you like to  calm down. Do a super hero pose, it calms you down!  Someways to calm down is... Deep breathes, smiling, dancing, they are all ways to calm down! How do you calm down?     

Magical Museum

On Monday we went to the Museum with Room 1.  We went on a double decker  bus.  When  we got to the Museum we went through Safety.  Then our leader Anthony said that polar bears have black skin and clear fur.  They also have hollow fur that acts like a duvet.  Then we went in the Arctic voice exhibition.  I was in knowlege heaven! I researched about the Snowy Owl.The Snowy Owl have feathers on it's toes.  It also camoflages. We did a scavenger hunt but my group was really disruptive. My favourite part was the Arctic Voice exhibition because I learned a lot.  Whats your favourite part of the Museum?
