Helpful Harold

 WALT: Write a letter.

Today in distance learning for writing we had to write a letter to Harold.  (The giraffe that visits schools and teaches them about being healthy.)  You had to tell him about what you have been doing in lock down. I wrote it in Google Docs.  It was an easy activity to do and I finished it quickly.  It was a fun activity to do as well.  I really like it when Harold visits our school.  Here is the letter that I wrote.

Dear Harold,

My name is Lily-Rose and I am a Year 6 student at New Brighton Catholic School.  We are answering your letter as part of our learning.  I have been doing a lot of school work and I have been going outside on the trampoline for at least an hour a day.  I have also been cleaning out my room too.  I put all my china ornaments on one shelf and all my porcelain dolls on the other shelf.  I have also been doing some painting and baking.  I LOVE baking chocolate chip cookies and brownies.  We have been going for bike rides along the river every second day.  Thank you for your letter.

Sincerely,

Lily-Rose.

What would you have written if you did the activity?

New Zealand Money.

WALT: Research the history of New Zealand Money.

Today in maths we had to research the history of New Zealand money.  It was challenging at times but fun to research the history.  I liked doing it because I learnt a lot about money and the people that are on the notes.  I researched on google and this site.  It took me a while to do but I enjoyed it.   I did it on a google drawing.  Here it is.

What do you know about our currency?

The life of Jesus

WALT: Understand the life story of Jesus.

Today for RE we had to watch a video about the life story of Jesus and make notes from it.  It was pretty easy to do because I already know a LOT about Jesus.  I made five bullet points about the video. It was fun and easy to do and I got it done quickly.  Here is the video that I watched.

What do you know about Jesus?

Super Suffragettes

WALT: To make a poster about Kate Sheppard and Meri Te Tai Mangakāhia.

Today for part of my distance learning was to make a poster about Kate Sheppard and Meri Te Tai Mangakāhia.  They were suffragettes in the 1860s when women wanted the right to vote.  It was a fun activity and it was challenging sometimes which is good.  I made the poster on Google drawings.  I liked making it on google drawings because it is a fun tool to use.  Here is the drawing.

What do you know about suffragettes?

How to find verses in the bible.

WALT: To make a video about how to find verses in the bible.

Today in lockdown one of the things that I had to do was to make a video about how to find verses in the bible.  I made a screencastify about it and it was quite easy to do.  In the video I used a google jamboard.  It was really fun to do because I got to add my own sort of touch to it.  The video might not work so just giving you the heads up.  Please comment to this post.

What is your favourite verse in the bible?

Meeting Emma Twigg

WALT: To write a report about personal experiences.

Today at school was a morning that we will always remember.  Olympic gold medallist Emma Twigg came and visited us at school today.  We sang the national anthem and we asked her questions.  She told us about her typical day training.   She trains five hours a day and six days a week.  We got to try on her gold medal and get her autograph.  It was so fun to meet her and now I can say that I have met a gold medallist!

Have you ever met a Olympic medallist?

Photos:

This is me trying on the medal.  (It was taken at a bad time)

This is our class.  (I had my eyes shut in the good photo!)

'mazing Matthew

WALT: To watch and make notes on the video about Matthews gospel.
In RE we had to watch a video on Matthew and take notes on it.
I really like the gospel of Matthew because he tells a lot of parables.
23 prophecies are fulfilled in Matthews gospel! Prophecies that were made thousands of years before!
It was fun and easy to do and I got it done quickly.  I chose Matthew because Jesus tells a lot of parables.

What is your favourite gospel?  Matthew, Mark, Luke or John?
(Gospels are part of the bible.  The bible is split into four parts. They are the four gospels.)
 Here is the video.
